Competition law is widely acknowledged as one of the leading practice areas in the field of European
competition law. However, the scope of the practice is broader.
The role of our law firm in Italy (Milan, Bologna, Rome) as legal advisor in typical transactions is outlined as follows. Our lawyers are frequently involved in notifications to the Merger Task Force and to national competition authorities. The practice includes advising on the application of Articles 81 and 82 (formerly Articles 85 and 86) to business practices and transactions, as well as preparing notifications and complaints before the European Commission (see Wikipedia definition of European Commission); advising on European state aid rules; advising companies on the deregulation of markets traditionally subject to state monopolies pursuant to Article 86 (formerly Article 90) of the EC Treaty; and drafting compliance schemes.
Furthermore, European anti-dumping and trade law is recognized as a leading area within the broader field of European trade law. An important aspect of this practice area in the field of international trade involves assisting both corporate and governmental clients with wider trade policy issues.
